6 POLICEMEN DETAINED OVER DRIVER’S DEATH



AKURE — SIX policemen have been detained in Ondo State over the killing of a driver of an unregistered truck, Friday Igbenidion, weekend, along the Ore/Benin Expressway.
The suspects were on patrol duty along Ore/Benin expressway when the deceased was reportedly killed.
Vanguard gathered that the Police authorities ordered the arrest of all its men in that area to unravel the person behind the killing of Friday and to know the motive behind the killing.
Confirming the death and arrest of the policemen, the state police image maker, Wole Ogodo, said: “The command received information at about 1 pm on August 9, 2013 that a driver with an unregistered truck was shot and killed close to a police pin down point on Ore/Benin Road.
“Following the report, we have arrested the crew members to the police patrol vehicles along the route. They have been detained and subjected to interrogation.”
“At the conclusion of our investigation, the outcome will be made public. I give you my assurance that whoever is indicted will be brought to justice,” the police commissioner said.
